Local Natives, “Breakers”

Local Natives are set to release Hummingbirds on January 29, 2013.  It's the follow-up to the band's 2010 debut, Gorilla Manor.  In advance of the new album is lead single "Breakers," which Local Natives has made available via YouTube.  While the band's first album was a bit like a more percussion-driven Fleet Foxes, "Breakers" shifts away from that style, at least initially.  Drums are still prominent here, but they're not quite at the forefront.  Instead, "Breakers" is much more lush than the band's previous offerings, as the song builds to crescendo with grand swells of layered instrumentation.  I'm happy to report that Local Natives haven't lost any of the complex energy that made their debut so compelling.  Check it out:
