Bruce Springsteen, “We Take Care of Our Own”
Maybe it's because I'm originally from New Jersey or because the guy's a living icon, but I feel compelled to post something about the new Bruce Springsteen single, "We Take Care of Our Own." But instead of writing a bunch of my own thoughts, I have a question for you:
Is the chorus of "We Take Care of Our Own" meant to be taken literally, or is Bruce being sarcastic?
Discuss.
Wrecking Ball is due for release on March 6 via Columbia Records.

So here’s the deal with Bruce Springsteen – much like Lady Gaga, he’s almost a character at this point. My Dad is a big Bruce Springsteen fan, and growing up on long car rides he would play his music. I heard Born in the USA a ridiculous amount of times as a kid. “Bruce Springsteen” likes to act like he currently is just a blue collar, small town guy from Jersey who really loves America. And the lyrics of some of his songs are almost so old-timey, pro-America sentiment to the point of being cliche. No one should be using “sea to shining sea” in a song. You almost expect some lyrics about Grandma cooling an apple pie on the window sill, or eating hot dogs while watching fireworks on the 4th of July. At some point it becomes silly.
I didn’t really answer the question, but all I know is as a native of New Jersey, you are not allowed to mock Bruce Springsteen or question anything he does.
